My Family

Dedicated to the great memory of my beloved Mother and Father
A life devoted to teaching and to children...
Pixels from the remote, remote past...

I decided to release them from the dusty shelves they reside...

These photographs are all related to my parents. They were scanned through an Epson V100 Photoscanner. Some of them were in the large negative format. Sometimes it was so difficult to see them again in those photographs as just they were living.

I love them both very much and they will live on forever in my deepest memories...

Instants from the remote, remote past!

First teachers of the young Turkish Republic!

"For those people to whom we owe a lot for the establishment of the young Turkish Republic..."

They were the army of the education... My mother and Father were of the earlier teachers of our young Republic.

Turkey remained neutral during most of the World War II. While rationing food during this period, it was also taking great precautions against a possible threat from the Germans and Soviets. Therefore mobilizing its large army, Turkey had increased the obligatory military service up to 3 years. During these years my father was serving as a "reserve lieutenant officer" in Gaziantep where he met a young teacher, my mother, and got married to her there (see the picture on left).

Mother with her students

I was not born yet and my mother was busy with her job, teaching.

That time, students had to wear black coats with white removable collars.

My Father in the classroom

Once I had examined his old syllabus and admired his writing. I thought he should be very delicate and careful.

We still keep his eye glasses and his green and black Pelikan pen...
